Do you know Christina Perri's song "A Thousand Years?" Ok, yes, it's apparently from one of the Tw.il.ight movies, but I didn't know that until I looked up all of the lyrics just now. Anyway, I've adopted it (haha) as my infertility theme song. I feel like it's so appropriate for the waiting, waiting to conceive, waiting to even be in a position to consider adoption. It's meant to be a love song, but I think the love it describes is pretty broadly applicable.
I don't like to say things along the lines of "if we have a boy or if we have a girl," because I did enough of that before we found out about being IF and it feels presumptuous at best now. However, if we have a son some day, I'd want to dance to this song with him at his wedding. It feels like I have loved my children for a thousand years, even though I don't know if they'll ever even exist.
Heartbeats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave
How can I love when I’m afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don’t be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more
Time stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything take away
What’s standing in front of me
Every breath
Every hour has come to this
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don’t be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more
And all along I believed that I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more
One step closer
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don’t be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more
And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more

The dying every day while waiting... I hear that! Thanks for sharing the lyrics. Not having had anything to do with Twilight (not on purpose, just not very interested), I've never heard the song.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good song for any kind of waiting, I think. And the music is nice; they've been playing it on the pop station on the radio. I'm not a Twilight watcher either!
DeleteWow. Yep fits IF so well - and to dream of dancing to it with your son on his wedding day someday, just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteA perfect song for a Mother/Son dance! Thanks for sharing the lyrics. They are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to add this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=QgaTQ5-XfMM
ReplyDeleteIt's a version of the song without the lyrics, but it is still so beautiful. Maybe future son who will probably never exist will want to dance to this version?
